On August 15, 2024, a meeting was held at the IFAS Executive Committee office with representatives of the " Institute of Ionosphere" LLP (Almaty). The Institute specializes in research on near-Earth space, solar-terrestrial interactions, space weather, and geodynamics, as well as conducting ground-based and space-based monitoring.
The Institute presented the results of their work on applying space technologies to research geodynamic processes in seismically active regions of Kazakhstan, monitoring natural and technological emergencies, and the potential of these technologies for comprehensive assessment of hydraulic structures.
Both parties emphasized the importance, potential, and relevance of this direction, as well as the potential of space technologies for monitoring the flow of transboundary rivers Syrdarya and Amudarya and controlling water consumption volumes in their basins.
The discussion also covered the possibility of leveraging the Ionosphere Institute's expertise in implementing specific projects of the Action Program to Support the Aral Sea Basin Countries (ASBP-4).
