А consultation meeting between the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and the World Bank Group team

On June 12, 2024, a consultation meeting between the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and the World Bank Group team was held at the World Bank Representative Office in the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, to discuss joint activities within the framework of the 4th Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP).
The aim of the consultations was to develop coordinated actions between IFAS and CAWEP during the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2024-2026.
Special attention was given to the activities of the Working Group on improving the organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS, whose work process is very important for all founding states of the Fund and is actively supported by CAWEP.

A. Orazbay presented a number of regional initiatives within the mandate of IFAS.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to intensify and coordinate joint actions within the ongoing partnership dialogue. In particular, the Executive Committee of the Fund and the World Bank Group team will work on and initiate new CAWEP projects aimed at achieving a multiplier effect and taking into account the interests of all countries in the region.
