On March 13, 2025, a meeting took place at the office of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) between the Chairman of EC IFAS, Askhat Orazbay, and the Director for Central Asia Development at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Sarah Cooper.
A comprehensive discussion was held on the cooperation of participants in the 4th phase of the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP-4)—a partnership between the World Bank, the European Union, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. This initiative aims to create conditions for enhancing water and energy security at both the regional level and within beneficiary countries in the context of climate change.
In particular, CAWEP-4 has supported the activities of the Working Group on improving the organizational structure and legal framework of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea over the past few years.
