Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS), in collaboration with the Central Asian Water and Energy Program (CAWEP‑4), organized the 2nd meeting of the Working Group on the Regional Grant Component of the multi-phase “Central Asia Water Efficiency and Savings Program” on 2–3 February 2026 in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting brought together representatives of relevant water resources agencies and foreign ministries of the Central Asian countries, nominated by the IFAS founding states, as well as heads of the IFAS country offices. Participants discussed proposals submitted by the Parties for inclusion in the Regional Grant Component of the World Bank Program across five key areas: "development of potential transboundary investment projects", "information systems and digitalization", "legal framework, strategic management, and planning", "support to regional institutions", "capacity building and scientific exchange".
An agreement was reached to continue this process, with the 3rd meeting of the Working Group scheduled for March 2026 in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.
