Seminar on Dissemination of the Project Results on the Revision of Hydromodular Zoning in the Syr Darya River Basin

On 8 July 2026, a seminar was held in Kyzylorda to disseminate the results of the project "Correction of Hydromodule Zoning in the Syrdarya River Basin Using Remote Sensing and Satellite Mapping Technologies to Improve Agricultural Water Demand Estimates and Irrigation Scheduling for Crops Cultivated in the Region".
The project is being implemented by the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) with financial support from the French Development Agency (AFD).
 
The seminar brought together more than 40 experts, including representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, local executive authorities, research institutes, higher education institutions, international organizations, and other stakeholders.
 
During the seminar, experts from the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Water Economy and the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia (SIC ICWC CA) presented the interim results of the project.
Participants also visited the experimental fields of the I. Zhakhaev Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Rice Cultivation, where they were introduced to the application of advanced innovative irrigation technologies for agricultural crops.
