On April 24, 2026, in Astana, within the framework of the Regional Ecological Summit–2026, the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) participated in the thematic session of the Central Asian Climate Change Conference titled “Water Resources Management in the Context of Climate Impact”, organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
The session focused on discussing regional climate challenges related to declining water resources and exchanging approaches to strengthening water management resilience in Central Asian countries. Ms. S. Shalmaganbetova, Head of the Information and Analytical Department of EC IFAS, delivered a presentation highlighting the Fund’s contribution to the development of climate-responsive water management approaches. As one of the practical examples, she referred to the project on updating hydromodule zoning in the Syr Darya River basin across Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, implemented in 2025–2026 with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD).
