The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan O.Bektеnov received the Heads of delegations from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Chairman of the Executive Committee

Astana, 18 September 2024 – Within the framework of meeting of the Board of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan O.Bektеnov received the Heads of delegations from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS.
During the meeting, issues related to the joint use of transboundary water resources and finding further solutions to the ecological and socio-economic problems in the Aral Sea basin were discussed. 
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan emphasized that the heads of the Founding States of IFAS pay special attention to water issues and expressed hope that through joint efforts the five countries would be able to significantly improve the condition of this unique water body that is vital for the entire region.
The Head of the Kazakh Government highlighted the important role of regional cooperation and outlined the priority tasks of the Fund during Kazakhstan's Chairmanship set by the Presidents of the Founding States.
Separately, O.Bektenov noted the need for further development of a comprehensive and mutually beneficial mechanism for water and energy cooperation in Central Asia, taking into account the interests of all parties involved. He also stressed the importance of introduction of the latest digital technologies and utilizing satellite remote sensing data, which would strengthen cooperation and ensure significant savings in water resources.
During the meeting the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan S.Ziyozoda, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan T.Atahallyev, and the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Ganiev put forward their own proposals.
At the conclusion of the discussion, O. Bektenov expressed gratitude to the Heads of the delegations for their contributions to the common goal of improving the region's ecosystem and emphasized the interest of the Government of Kazakhstan in constructive dialogue for the implementation of joint plans.
