The Representative Office of the ED IFAS and the GeoPark Aral Open Their Doors in Aral

May 21, 2025 – Aralsk. Representatives of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) took part in the official opening of the new Representative Office of the Executive Directorate of the IFAS (ED IFAS) in the Republic of Kazakhstan, located in the city of Aralsk. The Representative Office is tasked with strengthening collaboration with local authorities, communities, and non-governmental organizations in the Aral and Kazaly districts of the Kyzylorda Region.

The event also marked the inauguration of the Visitor Center of GeoPark Aral—the first geopark of its kind in Central Asia.

As part of the geopark’s launch, the EC IFAS delegation participated in the international scientific and practical conference titled “GeoPark Aral – A Regional Growth Point: From Geoheritage to a Sustainable Future.” The conference featured presentations by experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and the United States.
