Chairman of the Executive Committee of the EC IFAS Askhat Orazbay held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sodik Imomi.

Dushanbe, April 4, 2024 - Within the framework of a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) Askhat Orazbay held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sodik Imomi. During the meeting issues related to the current activities of the Fund and its working bodies were discussed, as well as plans for the period of the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2024-2026).

A.Orazbay requested to speed up the process of sending Tajikistan’s authorized representatives to the IFAS Executive Committee and invited the Tajik side to participate at a high level in the IFAS sub-regional session titled “Transboundary Water Cooperation in the Aral Sea Basin for a Better Future,” which will take place within the 10th World Water Forum (May 18-24, 2024, Bali, Indonesia).

In turn, Sodik Imomi assured that the Tajik side would provide comprehensive support to the activities of the IFAS. He also invited the IFAS Executive Committee to participate in the III High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” for 2018-2028, which will be held in Dushanbe on June 10-13, 2024.
