First Meeting of the Working Group on the Regional Grant Component of the Central Asia Water Efficiency Program

On 28 November 2025, the first meeting of the Working Group on the Regional Grant Component of the multi-phase “Central Asia Water Efficiency and Savings Program” was held in Astana at the office of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS). The meeting brought together representatives of the water authorities of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the Central Asia Water and Energy Program of the World Bank (CAWEP-4). During the discussions, the participants reviewed possible mechanisms for implementing the Regional Component, defined the tasks and functions of the Working Group, and outlined preliminary next steps. The meeting marked an important milestone in the region’s joint efforts to improve water-use efficiency and strengthen regional cooperation in the Aral Sea Basin.
