13th Meeting of the Working Group of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea

The 13th meeting of the Working Group of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) took place on December 12-13, 2024, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, with the support of the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP).

The meeting was attended by members of the Working Group from the founding countries of IFAS: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as representatives from the Fund’s structural units, bodies, and organizations, the CAWEP Program, and the Coordination-Dispatch Center “Energy”.

The Executive Committee of IFAS presented a report on the progress of the Working Group’s action plan for 2024 and an overview of the advancements in improving the organizational structure and legal framework of the Fund.

During the meeting, delegations from the IFAS founding countries developed a draft organizational structure for the upgraded IFAS, which will be sent to the countries for approval. They also prepared the Working Group’s action plan for improving the organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS for 2025.
