On March 12, 2025, the International Conference "Water Resource Management: Risks, Resilience, and Innovations" took place in the city of Astana, dedicated to World Water Day on March 22. The event was organized by the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan.
On behalf of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the IFAS, S. Bekmaganbetov spoke about the importance of the theme of World Water Day 2025 – "Glacier Conservation”. One of the main initiators of the glacier topic is Tajikistan, which is a founding member of the IFAS.
S. Bekmaganbetov introduced the audience to the activities of the Fund within the framework of the 4th Action Program for assistance to the countries of the Aral Sea Basin and the Regional Environmental Program for Sustainable Development of Central Asia until 2030. He also outlined the current work of the Executive Committee of the IFAS aimed at strengthening cooperation within the region and with international development partners.
