On 16 November 2024 on the sidelines of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29, Baku), Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) S. Bekmaganbetov met the Director General of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) M.Smith.
Both sides informed each other about the activities of their organizations and discussed potential areas of cooperation between EC IFAS and IWMI.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and the International Water Management Institute. The document is aimed at implementing the project proposals of the 4th Aral Sea Basin Program (ASBP-4) with an implementation period until 2030.
