May 29, 2025, Dushanbe, Tajikistan – Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS), Mr. Askhat Orazbay, delivered a speech at the Regional Forum on “Strengthening Transboundary Cooperation for Water Security and Climate Resilience,” opening the session titled “Water, Food, Energy and Environmental Security in Central Asia: Challenges and Opportunities”.
Mr. Orazbay emphasized the importance of deepening regional cooperation within the water-energy-food-ecosystems nexus in the context of climate change and increasing pressure on natural resources. He highlighted the role of IFAS as a key regional institution and informed participants about the progress in the implementation of the fourth Aral Sea Basin Program (ASBP-4), as well as ongoing efforts to improve the organizational and legal framework of the Fund.
He called on international development partners to engage more actively, underlining the EC IFAS’s readiness for open dialogue and joint implementation of projects in the Aral Sea Basin.
