EC IFAS at Tashkent Water Week 2026: Advancing Regional Water Cooperation

On 25–26 March 2026, the international water forum Tashkent Water Week 2026 was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, under the theme “Technologies and Innovations in Water Resources Management: Central Asia and the Global Water Cycle”. The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Management of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Afghanistan, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations.
 
The objectives of the forum were to promote the introduction of modern technologies and innovations for sustainable water resources management, facilitate the exchange of best practices, showcase new technologies, strengthen transboundary cooperation to address water scarcity, and attract investment for climate change adaptation in the region.
A staff member of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS), Candidate of Technical Sciences, Musilim Zhiyenbaev, delivered a presentation titled “Regional Partnership and Innovation: Implementation of the Fourth Aral Sea Basin Program (ASBP-4) as a Tool for Ensuring Water Security and Climate Resilience in Central Asia”.
