On 6 February 2026, in Astana, Kazakhstan, the heads of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and the Islamic Organization for Food Security, Ashat Orazbay and Berik Aryn, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. The MOU aims to develop joint activities in sectors of mutual interest, including the implementation of programs in sustainable agriculture, rural development, food and water security, related areas, and others.
Consultations were also held regarding the joint organization of events throughout 2026 within the framework of international conferences and forums on water resources, linked with water and food security, to promote the sustainable development of countries in the Aral Sea basin.
