Astana, June 17, 2024 – A meeting with Sarah Cameron, Associate Professor at the University of Maryland’s History Department (USA) was held at the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS).
During the meeting, she was provided with information about the history and activities of IFAS, its structure, main goals and objectives, as well as the priorities of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship for 2024-2026.
S. Cameron, in turn, spoke about her trip to the Aral Sea, the meetings she had in the Aral Sea region with local residents and authorities, and her plans for further research on the Aral Sea.
For reference: S. Cameron specializes in the history of Central Asian countries, with a particular focus on the history of Kazakhstan. She is the author of several books on the history of Kazakhstan. She is currently working on a book titled “Aral: Life and Death of a Sea”. In 2022, S. Cameron won the E. Carnegie Fellowship to support her research on the Aral Sea.
